Psalms 26-30 ” One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek:

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the day of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple” (Ps 27: 4)

King David didn’t ask the wealth and fame what most people ask their gods, but he only desired seeking God entire his life time; God added other things, anyway (Matt 6:33). What’s your choice if God asks you one wish?

Psalms 21-25

Kumusta sa inyong!

Let’s continue with David’ s Psalms: 21-25
Do you want to write your own Psalm but don’t know how to start?
Try Ps.23 with your first name like this: ” The Lord is Esthers shepherd————
I used to teach  this way to Sunday School (elementary) kids. They liked the personalized poem–made a card for putting either on the wall or  table.

Psalms 15-20 ” Keep me as the apple of your eye;

hide me in the shadow of your wings” (17:8)
Imagine this father figure who keeps you in the safest place…

That’s why we love our heavenly Father so much. I quote king David’s prayer as our own: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer (19:14)”–Amen!

* It will be nice if you can memorize 19:7-14.  It’s bonus points :)

Psa.9-14 ” The Lord looks down from heaven

on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God (14:2)”

Are’n't you thrilled knowing that God chose you among millions of people?  Lots of people say, “there is no God”…(v.1). The Psalmist recognizes hopeful less situation of human being: “they are corrupt, their deeds are vile.”  But there is hope when we look up, gazing God’s face…respond to his searching.

Saturate yourselves into these Psalms.  Have a wonderful week.

Dear Faithwalk family,

Kumusta sa inyong lahat!
Thanks for your prayers. I have safely returned to my family in US. I arrived on 14th of April and attended the denominational Prayer Summit during16-18 (you can check it out this event at www.crcna.org). Until yesterday I felt sleepy and draggy–not fully recovered from jet lag. However, I decided to get back to my normal routine and here I am! I did my meditation with Psalms this morning. It inspired me to invite you guys experiencing awesome prayers–Psalmists and yours. Let’s meditate Psalms for now.
” May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice” (141:2).  Our prayers can be like the aroma of incense as a pleasing offering to God…
Many Psalmists start with cry out from their distresses and agonies, yet they always end with either give thanks or praise God in their prayers…it means we can cry like babies to our Father  and will be comforted ( guided) by Holy Spirit. Try it, otherwise, you never know!

Good practices studying Psalms:
1) write spiritual journals–your own prayers 2) memorize (reciting) theme verses3) know themes and categories such as :  –description of God (shepherd, king, refuge, judge, and etc.); –relationship with God (expression of emotions); contrast of being righteous and wicked etc.

Acts 23-28

March 5, 2012 in Uncategorized

Hello.

This is your last reading assignment at this time; we will resume after our annual retreat for the volunteers ( April 3-5, 2012).  Well done! those who diligently participated each week.  I hope it gave you a good spiritual discipline that you can continue your own pace.  However, I will still help and guide  for those who are not ready (baby food feeding).
We are in the Lent period now.  what is Lent? In the past it was a long, strict religious fast when people gave up all rich food. In 2012, it started on Wednesday, the 22nd of February (Ash Wednesday) and will continue for 46 days until Saturday, the 7th of April (until Easter). The six Sundays in Lent are not counted among the forty days of lent because each Sunday represents a “mini-Easter”, a celebration of Jesus’ victory over sin and death. What most of Christians do during this time? Many churches hold special Lent services. In some towns the churches of different denominations join together in groups to discuss and share their Christian faith. The Christian church no longer imposes a strict fast. Some Christians try to overcome their own faults because they believe that it was man’s sin which led Jesus to be crucified. Some Christians try to follow the example of Jesus in the desert by giving up luxuries and practicing self-discipline. And they try to put aside more time to prayer and religious acts so that they can really let God into their lives. What am I going to do? I am giving up all kinds  of entertainments and am imposing AM fast until Good Friday.

  • Antioch of Syria, center of Christianity
There are two cities by the name of Antioch in the chapter 13: Antioch of Pisidia (13: 14-50, in Asia Minor) and Antioch in Syria (13:1-3,presently near border between Turkey and Syria), an early center of Christianity where Barnabas and Paul  were ordained as missionaries and sent out.  So, don’t be confused with these two locations. NT mentions quite a bit about the Church of Antioch– Gal 2:11-14, Acts 11:19, Acts 11:25-26, Acts 15:35,  Acts 18:23 and etc.–is the later one where believers in Jesus were first called “Christians” (Acts 11:26)
